Welcome to BanRedCams

Welcome to BanRedCams.com! We put this video together at the highest volume red light camera in the suburbs to show some of the practical pitfalls of red light camera operation in Illinois. This particular camera is located on Route 83, just next to the Wal-Mart in Villa Park. The red light camera at the intersection flashed several times while we were taping. But, while we were filming a general overview of the intersection, we got an example that shows what these cameras are really all about, cold hard cash.

The person we filmed actually DID stop fully – they justĀ happened to be ON the white line instead of BEHIND it. So, it’s “Flash!” and you’re $100 poorer. At least you will get the comfort of being able to review “the replay” online before the government takes your money.

We caught that particular incident during a random few minutes of filming on a typical (or even low-traffic) night. It doesn’t take many people each day getting tagged (just 3) in order to mean that over one thousand people each year are getting $100 tickets from this lone camera in Villa Park, all for COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP.

Wait, weren’t we told that red light cameras were all about safety?

Villa Park "Safety" Announcement

If you’re fed up and had enough of this mickey mouse government, come and make your voice heard this Tuesday night. That night, BanRedCams.com is throwing a Kickoff Rally at the US Headquarters of RedSpeed, one of the world’s largest red light camera companies, on Tuesday, September 22, 2009, at 7p.m. RedSpeed HQ is in Lombard, just off of Finley Road, north of Butterfield Road/IL-56.
