How Ban
Our “vehicle” to ban red light cameras is Senate Bill 2466, which has been filed by Sen. Dan Duffy. The goal is to get that bill out of committee, through the Senate, through the House, and signed by the Governor.
You know that the redcam companies and their allies in Springfield (and in municipalities throughout the state) won’t go down without a fight. They are pushing a “comprehensive” alternative bill that, at its core, requires that the redcams be painted yellow. Yes, we’re not kidding, painted yellow. The Daily Herald was unkind, to say the least, in its treatment of that bill, sponsored by Sen. John Millner.
